Sullivan Hockey is a video coaching and analysis service. SH aims to enhance players’ on-ice awareness + creativity + production + and understanding of situational hockey.
SH dives into a player's individual game, and attempts to help their strengths, and improve upon their weaknesses via 1-on-1 attention and video analysis. Analysis that comes from not just the individual player's game, but player comparables at the Junior, College, and NHL levels. We aim to optimize their individual on-ice ability and understanding, which can then be implemented into any and all team systems. We help escalate a player's on-ice efficiency by learning off ice.

Meet Billy ‘sully’ Sullivan
Ice and Ball Hockey took up the majority of my physical, and mental, time growing up in the Pittsburgh Area. I was lucky enough to use time playing for the AAA Pittsburgh Hornets and Pittsburgh Jr Penguins, to thrust myself into the NCAA ranks, where I played for 4 years at Franklin Pierce University. My time on ice, combined with my time on the United States National team for ball hockey over the years, led me to a straightforward conclusion, I was meant to WATCH hockey.
I started scouting for the London Knights of the OHL during the 2016-17 season. The first time I went to London and sat in the back Coach’s room there, I listened to Dale Hunter have a 15-minute conversation with an NHL goaltending coach, about what his NHL team is teaching their defenseman to do on 2on1’s. Where’s their stick placement? If they go down, are they angling towards the near post or far? And so on. I was in the right place. We all think we know hockey. But there is always so much more that can be figured out.
Scouting, evaluating, and coming up with creative and new ways to help individuals improve their games is what gets me out of bed every morning. It’s truly not even work, it’s a puzzle. "What can we do to help you get the puck more? Or what about this situation? Or this area of the ice? What if we tried this? How do we create more deception coming over the blue line for you? Your shot is straightforward, what if we tried this?”
Watching and coming up with a plan of attack to improve your game is not an overnight process. It takes time and a lot of work. When you want to improve your shot, you don’t practice it once in a while. When you want to get stronger and faster, you don't go to the gym once and awhile. And that is my mindset for YOU watching yourself play. You don’t improve at something without being taught new and different things. And working on things over and over. And seeing something once may not do anything to alter an instinct, but what if we saw something countless times, over time, that could adjust what you think, right? And then we start practicing it, and implementing ideas to help you improve your game within your team’s system. No ideas are black and white, we work in the shades of grey and try to create a domino effect for your game. We Watch Different - We Learn Different - We Play Different.
